Klay Thompson laughs after Giannis dunks on him
Just being back on the court is major for Klay Thompson. As a three time NBA champion, though, that is not nearly enough. Klay Thompson has been considered the second best player on the Warriors, throughout this run. During the Kevin Durant years, Klay Thompson slid into the role of the third scoring option. Whatever works, as the Warriors went from one playoff appearance in over twenty years to five straight trips to the NBA Finals. By the way, the Warriors won three of the five titles.
Since 2019, the Golden State Warriors have been hampered by injuries. Not to worry, life goes on in the NBA, and Giannis Antetokounmpo shifted the focus to the Milwaukee Bucks. The year the Warriors made their last NBA Finals appearance, Giannis won MVP, and led the Bucks to the NBA’s best record. At the time, though, he had yet to play on the biggest stage. Giannis has now done that, scored 50 points in the closeout game, and won Finals MVP.
Last night, Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks were in San Francisco to play the Warriors. It was a statement game for both teams and Giannis played like an MVP. The only problem was that Klay Thompson did too. Giannis dunked on Klay Thompson and it was hilarious, so Klay laughed after it happened. However, Klay Thompson would later score seven straight points, en route to 38 points, and a win for the Warriors.
