When the Celtics played the Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaiah Thomas injured his hip and was never the same. During the offseason, the Celtics were stacked, adding Gordon Hayward to their roster. A surprise move saw Isaiah Thomas traded for Kyrie Irving.
Kyrie Irving battled injuries during his time with the Celtics. When Kyrie missed the 2018 playoffs, the rookie, Jayson Tatum, and second year player, Jaylen Brown, led the Celtics. They went back to the Eastern Conference Finals, taking the Cavs to a Game 7. In 2019, a healthy Kyrie led the Celtics to a worse record and a second round loss to Giannis’ Bucks. Since 2019, Kyrie Irving has played for the Nets, who had to go to the play-in to earn the right to play the Celtics. When Kyrie scored, it looked like he gave the Boston crowd the middle finger.
