LaMelo Ball pokes Evan Fournier in the eye

Lately, the Charlotte Hornets have been hot. To be exact, the Hornets have been the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. Charlotte matched their longest win streak of the season, at five games. Holding on to the ninth seed, the Hornets are a lock for the play-in. Standing at 37-35, the Hornets are above .500 for the first time since January. This is the latest the Hornets have been over that mark since 2016.

Many agree that the Charlotte Hornets are a team with a lot of potential. LaMelo Ball is the franchise’s star, but Miles Bridges has proven he is a star this season, as well. With Terry Rozier, the Hornets have formed a powerful trio. When healthy, they are led by Gordon Hayward, and they are a team capable of beating anyone. This season, Charlotte has wins over the Sixers, Celtics, Cavs twice, Bucks twice, Warriors, Nets, Raptors, and Lakers.

Chasing the Nets for the eighth spot, which would give them home court in the first two play-in games, the Hornets hosted the Knicks. A game that should have been an easy Charlotte win ended up being a tough loss. The Hornets got off to a slow start that they couldn’t overcome. Late in the game, LaMelo Ball tried to create some offense. When he was driving the lane, he ended up poking Evan Fournier’s eye.
