This season, LaMelo Ball has had an interesting year. He was the Rookie of the Year, last year, and Charlotte had their first relevant season in five years. For most of this season, the Hornets have been playoff contenders. Briefly, the Hornets held a top four playoff position. The early success the Hornets had, many felt the Atlanta Hawks would have. In 2021, Trae Young led the Hawks on a Cinderella run to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they fell to the Bucks.
LaMelo Ball, meanwhile, has finally found a bit of a groove, this season. As the Hornets racked up early wins, Miles Bridges was the driving force in those games. Despite the losing streak, LaMelo Ball began putting up some career high scoring games. Even with the losses, the Hornets remain within the play-in range. In the middle of the Hornets’ struggles, LaMelo Ball was named as an injury replacement reserve for the All-Star Game.
As soon as LaMelo Ball made his All-Star Game debut, he had Steph Curry schooling him. After this, LaMelo Ball got in there and started doing LaMelo Ball things.
