LeBron James gets elbowed in the face and falls to the ground

For all intents and purposes, the season is over for the Lakers. Their current roster was constructed to win a championship. Instead of a title, the Lakers are barely holding onto a spot to play in the play-in tournament. In order to make the playoffs, the Lakers would have to beat at least two teams. That would earn them the right to play the Phoenix Suns. Last season, the Suns eliminated the Lakers from the playoffs, and they’ve gotten better, while the Lakers have gotten worse.

What’s tough about this situation is how LeBron James is having one of the best seasons of his career. At this stage, LeBron would love to be competing for another championship. If the Lakers were actually contending, LeBron James would be playing for his fifth championship. Instead of playing for a title, it looks like LeBron is playing to move up on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring List. Counting combined points, regular season and playoffs, LeBron has scored more points than any other NBA player.

As great as LeBron James is, getting older is the one thing he can’t beat. Tonight, the Lakers returned to their old stomping grounds of Minneapolis. Playing the Timberwolves, the Lakers took yet another loss, this time by 20 points. Early in the game, LeBron had the ball on offense, trying to score, but he missed the shot. Grabbing his own rebound, LeBron went back up, and he got elbowed in his face, which led to him falling to the ground.
