Lecrae and 1K Phew – “Move” [VIDEO]

Lecrae and 1K Phew join forces for Move video

Over the past decade, Lecrae has changed the landscape of music. A lot of people have tried to come in and define what hip hop is. Truthfully speaking, hip hop music has come to encompass rap, R&B, and soul. Each genre has roots in gospel music, but gospel has become one of the most-unpopular genres of music, due to a lack of appeal. Recent decades have seen Christian rappers put out music, but only Kirk Franklin has had relative crossover appeal. In the R&B market, Mary Mary has done their thing.

Lecrae doesn’t necessarily consider himself a gospel rapper, but he is a Christian rapper. All of his music is inspirational and uplifting. While he does touch on the gritty topics, he approaches it from the Christian way, and not the way of the streets. Really, Lecrae is a legend, as he’s the first Christian rapper to cross over into mainstream hip hop. Over the years, Lecrae has collaborated with the likes of Saigon and Pete Rock.

Through the years, Lecrae has found a solid partner in 1K Phew. The two have teamed up for multiple collaborations over the past five years. For Lecrae’s latest single, he has 1K Phew riding shotgun, once again. This time, the two have joined forces for their single, “Move,” and they have dropped the music video for the single.
