Lil Durk has really come a long way, especially over the past four years. In 2012, he rose to fame alongside the rest of GBE. Chicago took over, in 2012, and Lil Durk was one of the brightest stars to emerge. However, at the time, few saw him being the one to have the longest-lasting career, of all the rappers.
Major labels rushed to sign the GBE rappers and Lil Durk originally signed with Def Jam. Lil Durk spent a few years on Def Jam, before he went independent. During his time out of the spotlight, Lil Durk released mixtape material. Lil Durk also went onto do research on the business side of music, leading to him revamping the OTF label.
When he returned, Lil Durk signed a label deal with Alamo/Interscope. Upon his return, Lil Durk initially planned to focus on handling the business side of things. But, the death of King Von forced Durk to do things differently. What happened was Durk emerging as 2021’s biggest artist, putting up numbers that hold their own with Drake.
Lil Durk is also working outside of his genre. When he linked with Morgan Wallen, Lil Durk really turned heads. The two united for “Broadway Girls” and Durk has now released the official music video for the single.
