Thanksgiving was held on Thursday, as many people nationwide celebrated their blessings, and also took initiatives to give back to local communities. Lil Durk was one of them, as he helped those in need.

According to The Shade Room, Durk helped feed over 1,500 families. This was done in partnership with his nonprofit organization Neighborhood Heroes, as well as Boston Market and other local community leaders.

Durk went on to release a statement, as he explained why he took on this initiative. He revealed that he experienced hoping to sleep hungry at night, at a younger age.

“I’ve experienced going to bed hungry and wondering where my next meal was coming from. I sympathize with the families and I hope this gesture provides them with some uplift for Thanksgiving.”

Durk also has had an amazing year, musically. He released his seventh studio album, “7220,” in March. That went on to see a number one debut on the Billboard 200 chart, and was also Durk’s second number one, overall. That project was led by hits such as “Pissed Me Off,” “Broadway Girls” with Morgan Wallen and “What Happened To Virgil.”
