Lil Wayne – “Where You At”

Lil Wayne has proven just how impressive he is. To begin 2010, Wayne had to start his prison sentence, which has been long discussed. An incredible mixtape run was followed up by an impressive run of guest appearances. Finally, Wayne followed that up with Tha Carter III. In terms of hits and commercial success, the album lived up to the hype. Immediately after, Wayne came with We Are Young Money to establish his crew.

Lil Wayne delivered I Am Not A Human Being as a holdover album. But his strategic plan has worked successfully. Instead of people going without hearing Wayne, Young Money is in position. The two flagship Young Money artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj, are already two of the biggest artists in the game, which is impressive. Drake just released his debut album this summer. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj still hasn’t released her Pink Friday debut yet.

Lil Wayne overcame incredible odds to become one of the biggest rappers of all-time. Birdman says he always knew Wayne had this potential. However, most casual fans could have never predicted something like this. Also, what gets overlooked is how Wayne is a veteran in the game. While he continues to tout himself as the heir to Jay-Z’s dynasty, Wayne has actually been dropping albums almost as long as the man he gives so much credit to.

Lil Wayne has been dropping albums since 1999. Today, let’s take a look back at 500 Degreez. During this time period, he became the sole artist on Cash Money Records. He consistently dropped records to keep the lights on. Among those was “Where You At,” which built a minor buzz.
