Lloyd Banks was once the most promising rapper in the game. As a member of G-Unit, Lloyd Banks had the luxury of being 50 Cent’s right hand man, when he was taking the game over. Unlike most members of a crew led by a superstar, Lloyd Banks was talented. When it came to actual bars, Lloyd Banks was a better emcee than 50 Cent. To Banks’ credit, during his interview with Joe Budden, he said he benefitted from having 50 Cent to learn from as a songwriter.
Lloyd Banks made cameos in 50 Cent’s music videos for “Wanksta,” “In Da Club,” and “21 Questions.” After that, 50 Cent gave Lloyd Banks the spotlight. When 50 Cent released “P.I.M.P.” as a single, he decided to do a remix. As a result, 50 Cent’s “P.I.M.P.” remix was the actual single, which got the music video. Here, Lloyd Banks was properly introduced, as a member of G-Unit. A few months later, Lloyd Banks made his official debut, as G-Unit released Beg For Mercy.
Lloyd Banks launched a successful solo career, with “On Fire” as his lead single. With his debut single, Lloyd Banks’ video received daily rotation on BET and MTV. Also, Banks scored a top ten hit on Billboard Hot 100. After that, Lloyd Banks went through his second album drama, but did score one more hit, before an effective hiatus. In 2010, Banks had success with “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.” Since then, he’s had a couple of projects. Last week, Banks released Course of the Inevitable, and “Dead Roses” is the single from that new project.
