Going into Game 2, Luka Doncic was dealing with having lost the last ten games they played against the Phoenix Suns. In laymans terms, Luka Doncic has not beaten the Phoenix Suns since he was a rookie. At the end of Game 1, Luka Doncic led a comeback against the Suns that led many to believe the Dallas Mavericks had the momentum.
Luka Doncic is relatively new on the scene, but the Mavericks and Suns have a history. In the mid-2000s, the Mavericks and Suns had an intense rivalry. Of course, the Mavericks and Suns’ rivalry was overlooked by both franchise’s rivalries with the Spurs. During this new NBA era, Luka Doncic has become one of the faces of the NBA. Another face is Devin Booker, who quickly became one of the league’s top players. It was not until the bubble that Devin Booker saw any NBA success, in terms of winning.
Luka Doncic is hoping to get some of the same taste that Devin Booker had, last season. Devin Booker made up for a lot of lost time, missing the playoffs for so many years. Booker not only played in the Finals, he came within two wins of the title. That is where Luka Doncic wants to be. Last night, Luka dealt with getting blown out, and being hit by a Jae Crowder elbow. For Luka Doncic, that was the last straw, and the guys went at it.
