Luka Doncic is considered a great player, but the Mavericks did not have high expectations. Entering this season, the Lakers, Jazz, Clippers, Suns, and Nuggets were viewed as teams to beat. Potentially, the Warriors made the list, IF they could stay healthy. In the end, the Western Conference has the Warriors and Mavericks as the last two teams standing. Luka and Steph Curry defied the odds.
Luka Doncic put the Dallas Mavericks on his back, in the second round. In Game 7, Luka Doncic single handedly dismantled the Phoenix Suns. Before the series, the Suns won 10 straight games against the Mavericks. As a result, Luka Doncic the Mavericks were heavily favored against the Warriors. In the regular season, the Mavericks dominated the Warriors. However, the Warriors proved the regular season means nothing.
Luka Doncic came into Game 4 determined to not get swept. Through most of the game, the Mavericks dominated. Late in the game, Luka’s Mavs led by 29 points. Of course, Steph Curry and the Warriors came back to make it close. At one point, Luka Doncic threw up a shot that had no chance of going in. The ball bounced high into the air and landed in the goal. In turn, Curry looked on in disbelief.
