Miami Heat win second round playoff series against Philadelphia 76ers

Over the years, the Miami Heat have put in a lot of work to be a top tier organization. Since 2008, the Miami Heat have been a consistent playoff contender. Even the years when they do not make the playoffs, the Heat still finish with a top ten record. In 2019, the Miami Heat narrowly missed the playoffs, but had a solid team. At the time, Jimmy Butler was coming off a playoff run with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jimmy Butler chose to leave the Sixers and sign with the Miami Heat. In addition to Jimmy Butler being convinced by Dwyane Wade to join the Heat, the solid record and roster sold him. The Heat were one star away from success. In the disjointed 2020 season, Jimmy Butler led the Heat on an unlikely run to the NBA Finals. Once the Heat got there, they stunned the Los Angeles Lakers, pushing them to six games.

Heading into last season, there was a historically quick turnaround. The Finals ended in December and the 2021 season began in December. As a result, the Heat and Lakers both struggled, losing in the first round to the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns, respectfully. In turn, the Bucks and Suns competed for the 2021 title. This year, the Miami Heat put themselves back into the conversation, earning the East’s top record.

In the playoffs, the Miami Heat eliminated the Atlanta Hawks. During the second round, the Heat played Joel Embiid and James Harden’s Philadelphia 76ers. After six hard fought games, the Miami Heat have moved on to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat are waiting on the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks / Boston Celtics series.
