Mike Stud – “Batter Up” [VIDEO]

Mike Stud is doing something different, in terms of rapping. Very few people would ever associate hip hop with Rhode Island. However, Mike Stud is making that history. He is the first Rhode Island rapper to ever receive national media coverage. Currently, he is making waves with his single, “Batter Up,” which has people talking. Actually, it’s reminding longtime hip hop fans of another single with the same title.

Mike Stud reuses the “Batter Up” song title that was originally used by Nelly and the St. Lunatics. In their case, baseball was another interest they had outside of music. Growing up in St. Louis, their options were limited to make it out of the hood. However, in the case of Mike Stud, he played baseball when he attended Duke University. While he had the opportunity to pursue baseball, professionally, Mike Stud wound up in the music industry.

Mike Stud really put himself on the map last year. The year of 2012 saw quite a few rappers emerge and rise to stardom. Many of them were either unknown, or not well-known, prior to this run. Among those rappers was Mike Stud. However, he didn’t have the mainstream success of a lot of his peers. While he’s known, he still has work to do. But he’s unafraid to do it. Not only has he dropped “Batter Up” as his single, but also, he’s dropped the music video for it.
