Miles Bridges gets ejected and throws mouthguard at the Hawks

The 2021-2022 NBA season has been unlike most seasons. For the first time in years, the East is more competitive than the West. Projections for the Charlotte Hornets have been all over the place. Many were optimistic about the Hornets. Early in the season, the Hornets battled with the Bulls and Wizards for the East’s best record. In the end, the Miami Heat took the top spot. Meanwhile, the Hornets finished 43-39, behind a surprising run from Miles Bridges.

Last season, the Atlanta Hawks surprised the league. During Trae Young’s first playoff run, he led the Hawks to upset wins over the Knicks and Sixers. Trae Young did in one playoff run what it took the Hawks’ old core seven years to accomplish. Behind Trae Young’s stellar play, he led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Hawks played the Milwaukee Bucks, coming within two wins of the NBA Finals. This season, Atlanta struggled, but rebounded to a 43-39 record.

The Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks finished with identical 43-39 records. However, the Hornets and Hawks had vastly different ways of getting there. Due to tiebreakers, the Hawks owned home court advantage, as the Hornets vowed to not get blown out in the play-in. Last season, the Hornets were blown out in the play-in by the Pacers. Tonight, the Hornets were blown out by the Hawks. As the game unraveled, Miles Bridges ended up losing his cool.
