Lately, the Golden State Warriors have been struggling, but they’re a tough team to diagnose. After losing in the play-in, last year, the Warriors weren’t expected to be contenders this year. But, the Warriors got off to a quick start to the season. An early season run saw the Warriors overtake the Phoenix Suns for the NBA’s best record. That run included ending their eighteen game win streak.
However, an injury to Draymond Green slowed the Warriors down. Despite getting Klay Thompson back, the Warriors struggled, and this is when the Suns comfortably grabbed the number one seed. During that time period, Ja Morant and the Grizzlies got hot, taking the third seed. Prior to the season, the Denver Nuggets were expected to be in the conversation, but they struggled, too.
Recently, Nikola Jokic has returned to MVP form, as the Nuggets have gone on a run. Now, the Nuggets have inserted themselves into the conversation with the Suns, Warriors, Grizzlies, Jazz, and Mavericks. Last night, Monte Morris gave a ton of exposure to the Denver Nuggets. He hit the game-winning shot, in Steph Curry’s face, and this was on Golden State’s home floor, in San Francisco.
