During the height of his career, Nas faced much criticism. Early in his career, Nas dropped a classic album. Like most rappers who debuted, during that era, Nas faced pressure to make more radio friendly records. In doing this, Nas’ lost a lot of the fans who were his supporters from the beginning. He spent the next era trying to win them back. Thankfully, later years were more appreciative of Nas, and now he’s beloved by all.

Nas used to make fans wait on his music, but that’s no longer the case. In 2012, Nas returned with Life is Good, an album some say is one of the best albums of his career. That album was Nas’ first in four years and there’d be another six years before he dropped again. Now that he’s a tech mogul, Nas drops music much more frequently. At the end of 2021, Nas dropped his EP, Magic, to much fanfare. Among the guests is daddy to be, A$AP Rocky.

A standout track from Nas’ Magic was “Wave Gods.” This is the song where Nas featured A$AP Rocky. The song is the perfect bridge between the two eras. Not only is there Nas and A$AP Rocky to represent two eras of New York rap, there is also the producers. Nas’ era is synonymous with DJ Premier’s production. Despite working with Nas, Hit-Boy is synonymous with Rocky’s era. They all worked on this song and the video is out now.
