Those who watched the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards got a big treat at beginning of the show. In the closing moments of the show, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy joined Beyonce on stage, which was touching. But, along with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj opened the show with “Bang Bang.”
Compared to last year’s VMAs, this year’s show was a little mild. But, Nicki Minaj brought life to it whether she was on stage or not. She had a wardrobe malfunction during her first set, subliminally dissed by Taylor Swift, and then pounded on by Usher during their performance.
But, the show belonged to Nicki Minaj and she reminded the entire crowd of this in the first set. She owned all of last week with the “Anaconda” music video premiere. Nicki Minaj suffered a minor setback before the VMAs, but it did nothing to slow the actual performance of “Anaconda,” which she did during the “Bang Bang” set.
