NYPD cop suspended for punching 12 year old girl

In a shocking and disturbing video a police officer is committing a horrible act. A Staten Island NYPD, cop punches a twelve-year-old girl in the head in a new video. In the graphic video the cop along with another officer attempts to break up an altercation involving two young girls. As the altercation escalated, the cop began punching one of the young girls as bystanders attempted to stop the fight. Reports state Tuesday the officers were called to Edwin Markham Middle School to initially break up a fight between the young girl and another student.

With the video reaching viral numbers, members of the Staten Island community are urging for action to be taken. The Mayor of New York, Eric Adams spoke about the incident describing his discomfort after watching the video. An NYPD spokesperson stated the cops tried to “intervene which resulted in one of the girls attempting to stop them from intervening.” Although the video is graphic, various sources claim it does not accurately explain the entire situation. Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch stated not to rush to judgement “based on a few seconds of video.” The identity of the cop is not public, however he is on a thirty-day unpaid suspension.
