Producer’s Corner with Yung Ced: Southside

SouthsideBy Yung Ced
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Bet a lot of people out there don’t even know how critical Southside has been to the sound of hip hop in recent years. Rising to fame producing for Atlanta heavyweights including Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, Southside made his own name in the industry.

Southside became a production legend through his work on the mixtapes. Building a special bond with Waka Flocka Flame opened bigger doors for Southside. In 2011, he became a household name when he produced Machine Gun Kelly’s “Wild Boy,” that features Waka, with GB Hitz.

One major hit was not enough for Southside, as he also produced “Millions” by Pusha T, alongside Kanye West off Wrath of Caine. Arguably the biggest break yet for Southside came when he produced Birdman’s “Tapout.” Featuring Lil Wayne, Mack Maine, Future, and Nicki Minaj, the video came out earlier this month.
