The city of New Orleans has always had a successful hip hop scene. Guys like Master P and Birdman put the city on the map. Before they took off, there were guys like Big Boy Records that were making moves for the city. All of the local rappers had local labels to sign to. But Master P and Birdman had the vision to use their labels to reach the entire nation.

New Orleans has had three different eras where they dominated hip hop. In the mid-1990s, Master P and No Limit took over. The late 1990s and early 2000s saw Cash Money Records dominating. Late in 2007, Lil Wayne ended up taking over the game. Everywhere Wayne was New Orleans was represented. Now there is a new generation of New Orleans hip hop.

Rob49 represents the new generation of New Orleans hip hop. As a child, Rob49 grew up at the intersection of the 4th and 9th wards of New Orleans. The reason Rob’s name is Rob49 is due to the wards in which he represents. Recently, Rob49 returned with his latest visual. He released the “Vulture Island V2” single, featuring Lil Baby.
