Last night, the Lakers took another loss, as it looks unlikely they will even make the play-in. Most NBA critics have suggested that the Lakers just write this season off. Anthony Davis is vowing to make his return, as this is going on. The pundits say this is a bad idea, as he runs the risk of another injury, which will put next season at risk. Aside from all of this, there is the possibility that LeBron James may opt to leave the Lakers.

This year, the Lakers put together a roster intended to compete for a title. A few integral parts of the 2020 title run also returned. As Jalen Rose stated, though, the 2020 Lakers caught “lightning in a bottle,” as they won the pandemic championship. The Lakers overhauled that 2020 roster, as most of the role players landed bigger contracts. Still, they were 22-7, before injuries slowed them down. These Lakers have struggled all season, while the pieces they moved are thriving elsewhere.

The one piece that was supposed to put the Lakers over the top was Russell Westbrook. Instead, he has been a liability in most games. These past few games have seen Westbrook trying to find his groove. Last night, Westbrook played the role of enforcer. Taking on the Raptors, Westbrook stepped to Gary Trent, Jr. when he shoved Austin Reaves. Russell Westbrook walked up to him, shoving his forearm into Trent’s chest.
