One season in, Russell Westbrook playing for the Lakers has been a disaster. As one of the NBA’s best offensive players of all time, the Lakers have wanted Russell Westbrook for some time. There was once hope for the Lakers landing Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan. During his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook built his reputation as one of the NBA’s top players. In 2017, Westbrook won the MVP award, despite Kevin Durant leaving the team.

Russell Westbrook ended up leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019. He was traded to the Houston Rockets, replacing Chris Paul as James Harden’s running mate. After a couple of seasons there, Westbrook joined the Washington Wizards, where he helped Bradley Beal lead the Wizards to the playoffs for the first time in years. Following the 2021 postseason, Russell Westbrook was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook was one of LeBron James’ choices for his next title run.

Instead of a title run, the Lakers are barely contending for a playoff spot. There are talks of the Lakers shutting the season down, but LeBron James said that won’t happen. The Lakers have a chance to make the play-in tournament and get into the playoffs. Likely, there will be another roster overhaul, but last night the Lakers were just trying to get the win. Russell Westbrook wound up crossed up by longtime rival, Reggie Jackson, so he began cursing at him.
