Russell Westbrook steps to Aaron Gordon to fight
Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers had a disappointing loss, on the road, against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets blew the Lakers out, 133-96, as a disappointing season just continues to get worse. As the trade deadline approaches, there are questions about what the Lakers will do. On the other hand, the Nuggets won a must-win game, as they were only one game ahead of the Lakers for the West’s sixth spot.
The Denver Nuggets are a team that recently enjoyed a resurgence, after years of being a team on the cusp. In 2019, they were one of the NBA’s best teams, and they made the playoffs as the second seed, but lost in Game 7 to the Portland Trail Blazers, in the second round. Then, in 2020, they came together, during the bubble, and upset the LA Clippers to get to the Western Conference Finals. There, they lost to the eventual champion Lakers.
Quite a bit has changed, since 2020, and the Lakers are no longer on top of the NBA world. Instead, it’s the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors running the show. In the middle of that, the Memphis Grizzlies are stealing the show. Clearly, the Lakers are frustrated, and it showed when Russell Westbrook got in Aaron Gordon’s face. His teammates stopped that fight from happening, though.
