What separates shows like “Power” from the traditional soap operas is how in tune they are to real life. Notice the beats that play out on “Power” and it is no different than a typical soap opera. The difference comes in content and delivery.
Of course, no other show on television can boast that 50 Cent is a regular. Obviously, 50 Cent was originally a big draw to the series, originally. However, the show has gotten more popular during the second season and stands on its own.
In the season two finale of “Power,” 50 Cent hinted towards a major character dying. The episode title, “Ghost Is Dead” made it painfully clear series star, Omari Hardwick, would not see his character killed off and 50 Cent was the man eventually killed off. But, given his star power, should 50 Cent be brought back to the series as a new character now that Kanan died.
