Stephen Curry was not the player people thought would become a star. None of that stopped Stephen Curry from becoming a star. Basketball is literally in Stephen Curry’s DNA. Steph’s dad, Dell Curry, played for the original Charlotte Hornets. While Curry, Sr. was never an All-Star, he was a solid role player. What the elder Curry did was introduce his son to the game. Dell was an amazing shooter. In turn, Steph became the greatest shooter of all-time.
Stephen Curry loved basketball, so he played in high school. For college, Stephen Curry opted to go to the smaller Davidson University. In turn, Stephen Curry put them on the map. The 2008 March Madness run saw Steph lead them to the Elite Eight. Instead of the draft, Curry did another year at Davidson. In 2009, Stephen Curry was drafted by the Golden State Warriors. Nobody saw what came next, especially after Curry’s third year. By 2013, Curry led the Warriors to the playoffs. In 2015, they were champions.
Stephen Curry has made his own moves. Controversially, Steph Curry left Nike for Under Armour. The deal seemed bad, at first. Seven years later, Stephen Curry is a genius. From 2014 through 2019, Curry’s Warriors were consistently the NBA’s best team. Injuries ruined 2019-2022. In 2022, Curry is looking like an MVP, as he closed the Mavericks out in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. To cap it off, Curry hit a dagger 3, and gave the “go to sleep” gesture. This completed a 19 point comeback win.
