Talen Horton-Tucker gets flagrant 1 for taking down Jalen Suggs
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic share a unique history that should be a rivalry. First things first, the Magic were an expansion franchise that was thrust into title contention by drafting Shaq. A year later, they added Penny Hardaway. Experts compared them to Magic and Kareem. Definitely, the Magic were the team of the future. Then, Shaq signed with the Lakers.
From 1996, until 2008, the Magic were a rebuilding team, failing to build a contender. Dwight Howard was drafted by the Magic and turned them into title contenders by his fifth year. In 2009, Howard led the Magic to the Finals, where they lost to the Lakers, in five games. Three years later, Dwight Howard forced a trade to the Lakers.
Twice, the Magic landed franchise-changing big men, who led them to the Finals. Both times, they lost the big man to the Lakers. However, outside of the Shaq and Dwight eras, the Magic have not been very competitive. This has stopped them from being rivals with anyone. Tonight, they hosted the Lakers, and Jalen Suggs got taken down by Talen Horton-Tucker, as he went for a layup.
