Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J recruit Project Pat for Backseat video
In 2011, Juicy J joined Taylor Gang, and this was a huge move for Wiz Khalifa. At the time, Wiz did have his label deal with Atlantic Records, but was still viewed as a one hit wonder. Of course, Wiz had his longtime mixtape fans, who rocked with him for years, but he was unproven on the mainstream. What Wiz Khalifa proved was that he deserved his spot. Representing Pittsburgh, Wiz Khalifa proved he was a good businessman.
Wiz Khalifa also scored hits without working with the other rising artists of that era. Topping Billboard, his first time out, he also had other hits. Among Wiz Khalifa’s hits were “No Sleep,” “Remember You,” with The Weeknd, and “See You Again,” with Charlie Puth. The latter of those three topped Billboard, giving Wiz two hits that were the hottest in the country. Along with this, Wiz Khalifa kept pulling off major business moves.
The past few years, Wiz Khalifa has only dropped music when he feels like it. Clearly, he is in cruise control, having not released a charting since since 2019. Along with this, he hasn’t released an official album since 2018. But, Wiz and Juicy J have a collaborative album coming out. Yesterday, they released the video for “Backseat,” featuring Project Pat, which is the lead single from Wiz and Juicy J’s joint album.
