Zion Williamson goes crazy after Jaxon Hayes’ between the legs dunk
The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most interesting franchises in NBA history. Technically, the Pelicans are the NBA’s newest franchise. Originally, the Pelicans were the Charlotte Hornets, changing their name in 2013. This opening allowed the Charlotte Bobcats to take the city’s original NBA name. The original Hornets were a decent team and they continued that in New Orleans. After one struggling season, New Orleans landed Chris Paul.
During the Chris Paul years, New Orleans frequently competed for playoff spots. In 2011, Chris Paul left the team and New Orleans controversially landed the first draft pick. The 2012 draft saw New Orleans select Anthony Davis and they adopted the Pelicans moniker, not long afterward. By 2019, Anthony Davis got the Pelicans past the first round, but only had two playoff appearances to his name. Both of his playoff trips saw the Pelicans dominated by the Golden State Warriors.
Anthony Davis left for the Lakers in 2019 and they won the 2020 championship. The Pelicans won a nice consolation prize, getting the top pick in the NBA draft and landing Zion Williamson. However, Zion has stayed injured more often than not. After a terrible start to this season, the New Orleans Pelicans have turned it around, led by Brandon Ingram. Last night, the Pelicans blew the Houston Rockets out. During the game, Jaxson Hayes had a between the legs dunk that had Zion going wild.
