Zion Williamson laughs after Jose Alvarado steals ball from Chris Paul

Zion Williamson is sitting courtside at Game 4 of the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Ironically, Zion Williamson is right where he was projected to be, by year three. However, Zion Williamson has barely played since he was drafted. Because of Zion Williamson’s injury, the New Orleans Pelicans were not expected to make major noise.

The New Orleans Pelicans only made the playoffs, due to the Lakers’ collapse. Meanwhile, Zion Williamson was ruled out for the season. With Zion Williamson out, the Pelicans started the season 3-16. After Zion Williamson was ruled out, the Pelicans decided to make themselves respectable. After the All-Star break, the Pelicans have played like playoff contenders.

Late in the season, the Pelicans won two clutch games against the Lakers. In the first game, the Pelicans took the Lakers’ play-in position. Secondly, the Pelicans pushed them out of the play-in with their next meeting. Suddenly, the Pelicans had home court advantage for their first play-in game, beating the Spurs. After dispatching the Spurs, the Pelicans beat the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth seed.

Zion Williamson watched his team become contenders right before his eyes. However, Zion Williamson’s Pelicans have to play the Phoenix Suns in the first round. All season long, the Suns have been the NBA’s best team. A Devin Booker injury has given the Pelicans a chance. In Game 2, the Pelicans upset the Suns. After the Suns took Game 3, Zion’s Pelicans won Game 4.

Zion Williamson watched Jose Alvarado embarrass Chris Paul. Jose Alvarado caught Chris Paul slipping and took the ball from him. As a result, Zion Williamson was laughing as the Pelicans scored on the Suns.
