Two suspects in Young Dolph murder case to stand trial in 2024

Two suspects in Young Dolph’s 2021 murder case have finally received their trial dates. According to AllHipHop.com, Cornelius Smith and Justin Johnson will stand trial on March 11, 2024, as both were charged with first-degree murder. However, the two entered not guilty pleas. Judge Lee Coffee confirmed this trial date at a hearing, on Friday.

Five men were arrested in total, following the shooting of Dolph in his hometown of Memphis, in November 2021. Johnson’s brother Jermarcus pleaded guilty to three counts of accessory after the fact, last month. He’s said to have attempted to help Justin escape from Memphis, in the aftermath of the shooting. Hernandez Govan also reportedly hired Johnson and Smith to carry out the shooting. Govan plead not guilty, as he posted $90,000 bond, in May.

Dolph was initially shot while inside of Makeda’s Cookies,  popular Memphis business that he’d frequently visit. Furthermore, Dolph was supposedly there to purchase cookies for his mother. The two suspects went on to spot Dolph’s camo Corvette Stingray, and soon hopped out of their vehicles to carry out the shooting.
