Mary J. Blige rose to fame with a major assist from Diddy. Of course, Diddy was better known as Puff Daddy back then. In many ways, Mary J. Blige’s debut album served as a soft launch for Bad Boy Records. Actually, Mary J. Blige and Diddy were so close that many assumed she was also on the Bad Boy label.

Mary J Blige did work closely with Bad Boy, in those early days. Despite this, Mary J. Blige remained on the Uptown Records roster, until the label was dissolved. Ironically, many years later, Diddy, Bad Boy, and Mary J. Blige all wound up on the same label roster. In 2009, Diddy moved Bad Boy Records under the Interscope-Geffen-A&M umbrella.

Mary J. Blige will always be a part of the Bad Boy roster in spirit. Many people have wondered what the status of Bad Boy Records is. Diddy confirmed that with the launch of his new label, LOVE Records. Of course, Bad Boy will forever live on, also in spirit. With that, Mary J. Blige and Diddy have always been on the same team, and will always be on the same team. Last night, Mary J. Blige and Diddy were partying, and the two went viral dancing to Slick Rick’s classic, “Children’s Story.”
