Saweetie hosts Financial Literacy Empowerment Banquet
Earlier this week, it was announced that Saweetie will be performing at a virtual Super Bowl event, in the Roblox video game, on February 10. This will take place at 7PM, as Saweetie will perform hit singles such as “Tap In.” The event in Roblox is being held inside Warner Music Group’s Rhythm City. This concert will also go on to re-air every hour, until February 12.
On Friday night, Saweetie and her Icy Baby Foundation also went on to hold a Financial Literacy Empowerment Banquet. This was as a result of a partnership with the 702 Blessed Football League. The event went on to be held on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Therefore, a financial literacy presentation was scheduled, as well as a dinner for the student-athletes ages 12-17. In addition to this, NFL and former NFL Pro Bowl players also made appearances.
“Our main goal is to help young athletes get a head start on understanding financial literacy,” said Saweetie in a statement. We are encouraging them to sign up for the second quarter of our financial literacy course that we launched in January. We want to continue the program throughout the year. We are now looking for partners to join us in supporting the youth.”
Saweetie, her grandmother Roxane Harper, and their Icy Baby Foundation officially launched their financial literacy program for youth, last month. This is a six-week program, as they receive a funded debit card, educational resources, and information about saving, budgeting, and financial planning. The Icy Baby Foundation was initially started in order to financially empower Black and Brown youth through education.
