YSL Co-Founder takes racketeering conspiracy plea
On Wednesday, Gunna trended on social media heavily, after he was finally released from jail. That came as a result of reaching a plea deal, on a racketeering conspiracy charge. Gunna, Young Thug, and 26 other members of their YSL crew were initially hit with a 56-count indictment, in May. Gunna and Thug had each been previously denied bond, three times.
Gunna was also hit with a 5-year sentence, including one in prison. That received credit for time served, as the other four years are a suspended sentence. Gunna must also perform 500 hours of community service. Gunna entered an Alford plea, which he maintains his innocence, all while pleading guilty to the charge. Gunna surprisingly testified that YSL is in. fact a gang. Thug remains in jail, but did have a bond hearing on Thursday.
However, another YSL member is getting out of jail, on a guilty plea. This is Walter Murphy, who co-founded YSL with Thug, back in 2012. This week, Murphy plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy to violate the RICO act, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is receiving a 10-year sentence, as one year was commuted for time served. The rest will be nine years of probation.. In addition to this, he must also “testify truthfully in any further trial as it may become necessary.”
