Shareef O’Neal power slams a dunk off a Scotty Pippen Jr assist
Shareef O’Neal is the son of Shaquille O’Neal and was born months before he won his first championship. As a result, Shareef O’Neal grew up in Los Angeles. Of course, Shareef spent his later childhood years in Miami, before he returned to the Los Angeles area. While Shareef O’Neal’s journey is vastly different, he shares similarities to his dad’s journey. While Shaq was forced into basketball, at the age of 13, Shareef had a bad game at that age, which forced him to take it more seriously.
Shareef O’Neal was actually interested in skateboarding as a child. After that, Shareef took basketball more seriously and played for the UCLA Bruins, as a red shirt, for two years. However, Shareef O’Neal would transfer to LSU, his dad’s alma mater, where he would play the past two years. While Shaq came out of LSU as the number one draft pick, Shareef came out and went undrafted. Like his dad, though, Shareef signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he has a hometown connection to the team.
Shareef O’Neal is playing Summer League, for the Lakers. The younger O’Neal is playing alongside Scotty Pippen, Jr., the son of NBA legend, Scottie Pippen. Thus far, O’Neal and Pippen have formed a duo for the Lakers’ Summer League. Not only that, but also, LeBron James is impressed. Last night, they took on the Charlotte Hornets. Scotty, Jr. threw Shareef a pass and he slammed it home so hard that it looks like Anthony Davis may have competition.
