Jay-Z launches Roc Nation sports, signs Robinson Cano

In countless rhymes on several songs, Jay-Z has mentioned how he is a businessman who raps, as opposed to being a rapper with a hustle. Once Jay-Z put the mic down and moved into the office, he could not fully stay away, but he has found a happy medium. Jay-Z now finds himself in a position where he runs rap, managing most of the top artists in the game.

However, along with taking over the rap game, Jay-Z also has a passion for sports. Since 2003, he has been a part owner in the NBA’s Nets and was instrumental in their relocation to Brooklyn. But, it looks like his latest business venture may conflict with his high-profile role with the Nets, who are in the midst of their first playoff run in six years.

Jay-Z has teamed with Creative Artists Agency, which is home to Dwyane Wade, Sidney Crosby, and many other high-profile athletes, for Roc Nation Sports. The first client signed to Roc Nation’s sports division is New York Yankees’ second baseman, Robinson Cano. All is well, but if Jay-Z chooses to add NBA players, he may have to relinquish his rights to the Nets.
