DJ YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: R. Kelly – “I Believe I Can Fly”

I Believe I Can FlyBy DJ YRS Jerzy

A dream is a blessing that can last for ages if applied and used properly, but sometimes this blessing can be a curse. Anything that deals with progressing is difficult and sometimes nobody understands. In 1996, R. Kelly crafted an anthem for those who needed encouragement and now his dream lives on.

“I Believe I Can Fly” was released in 1996 and reached number two on Billboard by 1997. Originally, the song appeared on the Space Jam soundtrack and was the unofficial song of the Chicago Bulls. Many still use this song along with their analogies, using Michael Jordan.

R. Kelly included “I Believe I Can Fly” on his 1998 album, R., and it is one of the most-motivational songs in history. Looking at the world outside of hip hop, the outlook is bleak and people surely need motivation. So, this week, the Wednesday Throwback is R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly,” as he believes and we at Hip Hop Vibe also believe it, do not be afraid to fly.
