Every few years, a new crop of R&B stars break into the industry. Many of these new stars were actually behind the scenes, penning tracks for established stars. This is where Elijah Blake stands, as he wrote “Climax” for Usher, but he’s also had his time in the spotlight, recently releasing, Drift, and he appeared on Game’s Jesus Piece.

In an effort to connect with fans, Elijah Blake has teamed up with Interactive One’s HelloBeautiful.com to be Bachelor of the Week. This campaign is brought to the masses by the highly anticipated film, Beyond The Lights, premiereing on November 14. Each week until the premiere of the movie, a new bachelor will be featured.

Elijah Blake talked to Hip Hop Vibe about his Bachelor of the Week feature. He also discussed his own career, penning “Climax” for Usher, and his solo work. But, for more information about the HelloBeautiful.com campaign, those interested can click here to learn the full details.

Can you tell us more about this Bachelor of the Week campaign you are participating in? Yeah. I think it’s a cool way to erase the barrier between the artist and the fans. Sometimes, the fans just think they are useful when we drop projects, but this shows that this isn’t the case. I really appreciate my fans and I know they will support what we’re doing. I’m really excited for this and I think it’s dope.

You are building a name for yourself in the R&B game, are you used to getting a lot of attention from females? Ah, yes. I don’t think I’d say I’m used to it, but I appreciate the appreciation from them. The timing is perfect for everything.

What made you want to participate in something like the Bachelor of the Week? Of course, I think it’s a great way to connect with the fans and it’s for a good cause. I’d love to be a part of such a good opportunity to have a great conversation with my fans. This also lets fans know it can happen and it’s important to me because I’ve been doing this for a minute.

Very briefly, can you describe the experience of writing “Climax” for Usher and then seeing the song become the big success that it became? I grew up listening to Usher and I know a lot of us have. His catalogue speaks for itself. To go from being inspired by him and then to work with him and be a part of his legacy is amazing. I will always appreciate that opportunity and I will hold it close for a long time.

When should fans expect more music to come from you, seeing how you’ve worked with so many other celebrities? We just dropped the EP on September 30 and that was a good thing. This was the first project I had available for purchase and it was great for me, my label, and Roc Nation to unite on a common goal. It’s amazing that we put it together and now I’m working on my album and my legacy. I can’t wait to do more of this in proper fashion, it’s amazing.

Before we go, can you tell the people where to find you on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and how they can learn more about the Bachelor of the Week? @SirElijahBlake on Twitter and Instagram, Elijah Blake on Facebook, and Elijah_Blake on Soundcloud.
