When Rick Ross first debuted in the summer of 2006 with “Hustlin,'” safe to say he wasn’t predicted to have staying power. During the mid-2000s, there were countless ringtone rappers/one hit wonders. Rick Ross looked like the next one, especially when his sophomore album was delayed, but he rebounded.
By 2008, it was clear Rick Ross was here to stay and he has delivered consistent hits ever since then. Seeing what he later accomplished, Rick Ross’ “Hustlin'” single, considered his debut, is somewhat historic. The Miami rapper even saw it interpolated by LMFAO in 2010 with their “Party Rock Anthem” single.
Now, Rick Ross and The Runners, the producers of “Hustlin,'” have filed a lawsuit against LMFAO. In the lawsuit, they claim LMFAO attempted to sound like Rick Ross and capitalize off the previous success of “Hustlin.'” Rick Ross’ original lyric is “every day I’m hustlin,'” which LMFAO altered to “every day I’m shufflin'” and their line is also quoted on their t-shirt line.
