Woman gives birth in Golden Corral restroom after surprise labor
A family outing at a Golden Corral restaurant in North Little Rock, Arkansas, turned into an unforgettable experience. When Tayvia Woodfork unexpectedly gave birth in the restroom, she expectedly claimed all of the attention.
The incident occurred on May 4. Already, Tayvia had been experiencing stomach pains. So, she went to the restroom while her family sat down for lunch. Unbeknownst to her, she was 37 weeks pregnant and in active labor. This is a condition known as cryptic pregnancy. The rare situation occurs when a person is unaware of their pregnancy for most or all of the gestation period.
Tayvia’s mother, Tameka Woodfork, initially thought her daughter was suffering from severe cramps. However, when Tayvia didn’t return after 10 minutes, Tameka went to check on her and discovered the severity of the situation.
“I didn’t know what was happening,” Tayvia told TODAY.com.
Tameka recalls Tayvia crying out in pain and unable to move her legs. Thus, prompting them to call 911. Moments after paramedics arrived, Tayvia delivered a healthy 6-pound, 1-ounce baby boy right in the restroom.
“They were still trying to figure out what was going on when she goes, ‘It’s out! It’s out!’” Tameka recounted. The baby, initially found in the toilet, was safely recovered and is doing well.
The newborn, named Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork, received a warm welcome from the Golden Corral team. So, they crowned him as their “youngest fan.” The chain shared the heartwarming news on social media. In addition, and as a gesture of celebration, presented the family with a box of baby essentials and a Golden Corral gift card.
Tayvia’s son joined his older brother, Taylon, 2. Reflecting on the extraordinary birth, Tameka said:
“We had no idea. There were no signs.”
The event has left the Woodfork family and the Golden Corral community with an unforgettable story to tell.
