Featuring East Coast artists the first three weeks, it was time to switch things up with a classic single from years ago. When many think about the veterans in the rap game, one name constantly overlooked is Too $hort. Despite Too $hort being a thirty year veteran who still is going strong, he is overlooked.

Back in 1989, Too $hort was still establishing his legacy and he made a major impact with his Life Is… Too $hort album. On this album, Too $hort featured the classic single, “The Ghetto.” This song sticks out because many of the same situations Too $hort is talking about twenty-four years ago are still going on today.

Too $hort is known for his “nasty” records, but he also has many socially-conscious songs like “The Ghetto.” Some songs are universal and “The Ghetto” is one of them because people from 1965, 1989, and even in 2013 can relate. “Ten years from now, where will you be?” is a question Too $hort asked and it will never go away.
