Marcus Smart took on the role of enforcer for the Boston Celtics, years ago. In the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals, Marcus Smart took it to LeBron James. Marcus Smart was clowned on social media, but this actually put him on the map. At the time, the Celtics were shorthanded, but managed to take 2-0 and 3-2 leads over LeBron’s Cavs. Without their franchise players, the Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, the rookie, and Jaylen Brown. Meanwhile, Marcus Smart was their backup.
Marcus Smart formed the core with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. After the Celtics’ attempts at a franchise point guard failed, they decided on Tatum and Brown. Both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have come into their own. These past two seasons, Jayson Tatum has established himself as the Celtics’ leader. Jaylen Brown reminded people he was a franchise guy, too, during this Milwaukee Bucks series, as he took over in Games 2 and 4.
Marcus Smart was ready to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics did not force a Game 7 at home, after falling behind 3-2 to lose. Giannis has completely dominated the Celtics throughout this series. However, Giannis has had inconsistent help, with Khris Middleton out. Early in Game 7, Marcus Smart accidentally hit Giannis’ head with his knee. The play was wild, as Marcus Smart was falling face first, while in the air.
