Monica ft. Ty Dolla $ign – “Friends”

Monica recruits Ty Dolla Sign for her new single Friends

Monica is working on her first album since 2015. Seven years ago, Monica released Code Red, which was her seventh, or eighth album. For those who may have forgotten, Monica intended to release an album called All Eyez on Me, in 2002. However, Monica’s album was scrapped, and repurposed as After The Storm, which dropped in 2003. Despite that, Monica’s All Eyez on Me was released as an album outside of the United States. After that, Monica dropped After The Storm all around the world. As a result, Monica’s official album count is off.

Monica is a legend in the game and her album count proves that. Nobody can accuse Monica of not putting in the work. Add to that, Monica has an endless list of chart topping hits. Out the gate, Monica dominated the game, dropping “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days).” With Monica’s very first single, she reached number two on Billboard Hot 100. Three years later, Monica returned with her second album, The Boy Is Mine. On her sophomore album, Monica released three consecutive singles that topped Billboard Hot 100.

Monica created a classic, with “So Gone,” from 2003’s After The Storm. Back then, Monica was viewed as a vet in the game. Nearly twenty years later, Monica is still going strong. Currently, Monica is working on her as of yet untitled new album. This album is Monica’s first LP release in seven years. With the upcoming album, Monica is going all out. This morning, Monica rolled out “Friends” as the new single from the album. Featured on the single is Ty Dolla $ign.
