1501 Certified Entertainment CEO Carl Crawford expands team at label, explains excitement of first signing Megan Thee Stallion, and clears up misconceptions by public of business relationship with Megan

Carl Crawford clears up alleged beef involving Megan Thee Stallion

1501 Certified Entertainment has become one of the biggest rising record labels out of the south, over the past five years. Founded by former MLB star Carl Crawford in 2016, he knew he wanted to find success in the music business, following the conclusion of his baseball career, as he was a 4x all-star, and played for teams such as the Rays, Red Sox and Dodgers.

Carl initially signed stars such as Megan Thee Stallion to 1501 in 2018, after discovering her on YouTube, and later brought on Erica Banks. He spoke to his partner, and gave him the funds needed to sign her to 1501. Megan soon went viral in 2019 with her breakout “Big Ole Freak” single. She has since released successful projects such as “Fever,” “Good News,” “Traumazine,” and more.

However, since 2020, Megan and Carl have clashed on several occasions on social media, due to reported differences of releasing music. But, Carl and 1501 now acknowledge anything that could have made him look or sound anything but grateful for having Megan, as a 1501 artist, in a statement to Hip-HopVibe.

Carl and 1501 also take accountability for any miscommunication and expression that seemed that portrayed Megan or Roc Nation as anything other than great entities and assets to the culture of music. They would like to reconcile any relationships, and are also making it known that the label stands strongly with Megan and her decision to express and exercise her free will as an artist in spite of any differences of opinions

Carl has also expanded his team at 1501, for 2023. Kai “Verse” Tyler now serves as President, Trey Harris has become Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Jens “The Guru” Elmera is President of Digital Marketing, Onyx Nancy is 1501’s Business Manager, and Darrian Smith has been chosen as Director Of Artist Development.
