A$AP Rocky was released from the Stockholm, Sweden jail he was locked up in after assaulting a man named Mustafa Jafari who was stalking him and his crew. A$AP was allowed to stay in America until the verdict was revealed in court. That took place today and A$AP was ruled guilty but won’t have to go to prison, according to TMZ.
This ruling was relied heavily on if A$AP threw a bottle at Jafari and injured him severely. No witnesses could be found to prove that the bottle was actually thrown. Rocky’s defense was that he held the bottle for his own protection. Prosecutors ruled that the bottle wasn’t used for assault and because of that, community service won’t be required either.
Judges did see A$AP hitting and kicking Jafari while on the ground as assault though. He and co-defendants will have to pay restitution to the victim, and also cover Sweden’s court expenses.
Slobodan Jovicic, A$AP’s lawyer, sees it as a win that the Harlem rapper wasn’t found guilty of using the bottle but wasn’t feeling the fact that the judges didn’t rule he was acting in self-defense. Jovicic thinks that witnesses around the situation prior to everything going down didn’t see anything.
The ruling by the judges is definitely an unusual one but thankfully, A$AP will see no more of that Swedish jail. Now, he can get back to the show money. He missed close to $2 million while locked up.
