Angel Reese catches backlash for taunting Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese put herself on the map yesterday. She helped lead the LSU women’s basketball team to the NCAA championship. Reese’s LSU Tigers got the win over Caitlin Clark and the University of Iowa’s women’s basketball team. As the Tigers were becoming the clear winners over the Hawkeyes, Angel Reese taunted Caitlin Clark. Previously, Clark taunted South Carolina. However, when Reese taunted Clark, people in the sports media, and fans began badmouthing her.

Angel Reese is one of the most talented rising basketball players. In all likelihood, she is going to declare herself eligible for the WNBA draft. However, there are subtle calls for teams to not draft her. Of all things, Reese is being accused of poor sportsmanship. These people have watched basketball enough to know that players tease each other. This is especially true when they’re competing. Not even a week ago, Caitlin Clark made a similar gesture at South Carolina and was praised for it.

Angel Reese, meanwhile, is having to deal with social media bullies. All she did was help lead her team to a championship and celebrate it. Throughout the women’s NCAA tournament, Caitlin Clark has gotten tons of media attention. She helped lead the University of Iowa on an incredible run. As she was leading her team to wins, Clark was making gestures and celebrating. However, much of the sports world seems to have a problem with Reese doing the same.
