Balenciaga announces ends of relationship with Kanye West

Balenciaga announces end of partnership with Kanye West

Over the past several weeks, Kanye West has been heavily criticized online. This comes after wearing a “white lives matter” shirt during his Yeezy fashion show, in Paris. While posting his text message conversations with Diddy to Instagram, Kanye also made anti-Semitic comments, in his captions.

The anti-Semitic comments also followed in Kanye’s Drink Champs interview, last weekend. It was also there that he claimed that George Floyd denied of fentanyl use, and that Officer Derek Chauvin’s knee wasn’t even on Floyd’s neck “like that.” Kanye has since been sued by the mother of Floyd’s daughter, for $250 million.

Many companies are starting to end their relationship with Kanye, including JPMorgan Chase Bank. Now, Balenciaga is cutting all ties to Ye, as well, according to Women’s Wear Daily. Kering, the French fashion house parent company to Balenciaga, stated that “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.”

Balenciaga didn’t clarify why the relationship with Kanye is over, but it definitely seems likely due to the anti-Semitic and George Floyd comments. Balenciaga had previously collaborated with Ye on his Yeezy clothing brands. Kanye had a Balenciaga fashion show earlier this month as well, but those are now done, for good.
