Baskin Robbins debuts new chicken and waffle flavor
A new sweet and savory ice cream flavor is hitting the shelves this year just in time for spring season. Baskin-Robbins premiers a new Chick’n & Waffle flavor as it’s new flavor of the month. The new addition was released March 1st, following the brand’s first bottomless brunch held in New York. Inspired by the iconic brunch duo, this version features buttermilk waffle flavored ice cream with waffle flavored bites drizzled in a sweet bourbon maple syrup flavored swirl. Despite the name of the treat, no real chicken is included.
Founded in 1945 by Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, the one of a kind business is now a staple for ice cream throughout the world. Originally starting out with Robbin’s Snowbird Ice Cream in Glendale, the company expanded to Burton’s Ice Cream in Pasadena. Eventually, the duo merged into a single enterprise in 1958 with their iconic twenty-one flavors. As popularity grew the menu expanded to the signature thirty-one flavors, one for every day of the month. It is unclear if this new flavor will become permanent as the franchise is known for limited time special releases. Although the verdict on the taste of the new flavor is still out, more than 2,500 locations offer the feature flavor.
