Since the days of Jay-Z and Ja Rule, there have been few “album a year” rappers, though many have made the promise. Drake and Wiz Khalifa released their first two albums a year apart and Fat Joe was consistent from 2005 through 2010. Big Sean also made this promise, but it was easier said than done.

Due to the popularity of mixtapes and his overall buzz, Big Sean managed to sustain himself without releasing an album. Big Sean said he put so much into his Detroit mixtape and made it impossible to make the best possible album and release it before the end of 2012. Instead, Big Sean decided to hold off on his album until 2013.

Big Sean talked to MTV News about his latest project, earlier today. Hall of Fame will live up to its title, according to Big Sean. The Detroit emcee discussed his new album with MTV and he said it would be worthy of an “album of the year” honor. Calling it his best work ever, Big Sean said the album goes so many ways.
