Cam Newton says hairstyle stopped him from landing new NFL job
Cam Newton was once an NFL fan favorite and he put the Carolina Panthers back on the map. In 2016, he led them to the Super Bowl. This run followed years of Cam and Carolina slowly becoming a better team. Their 2015-2016 run saw it all come together and Cam won MVP. After that, the team began losing ground and Cam eventually left the team. Now, the former MVP finds himself on the outside looking in at the NFL. During an interview with “Undefined,” Cam explained why he doesn’t have a job. He says it has a lot to do with his hair.
Cam Newton came into the NFL as a clean cut guy. As a result, he was loved by all of the fans. Of course, the NFL had a very diverse fan base. There were a lot of conservative oriented people who loved the NFL. Given how clean cut Cam came into the league being, he was loved by them. However, after the kneeling controversy with Colin Kapernick, and then Cam growing his hair out, the whole NFL fell out of favor with those types. In addition, Cam lost support.
Cam Newton spoke to Josina Anderson, on “Undefined,” and he discussed this. He was asked why he isn’t playing in the NFL currently. In turn, Cam spoke on the conservative types. While many of these types are no longer NFL fans, they do make up a large portion of the NFL ownership structure. As a result, Cam said some suggested that he cut his hair. However, Cam says he won’t do it, and that he doesn’t need the NFL, nor does the NFL need him.
